HELP US SAVE THE CLUBMOOR CONNY CLUB!

THE VENUE WHERE LENNON AND MCCARTNEY WERE FIRST BOOKED TO APPEAR ON STAGE TOGETHER, AND PAUL MCCARTNEY'S FIRST PAID GIG

Although John and Paul first met at St Peters Church Hall, Woolton on 6th July 1957, they didn't perform at a paid gig together until 18th October that year.

This was at the New Clubmoor Hall, pictured here during their second performance at the club.

John asked Paul to play the 'Guitar Boogie Shuffle' and the story goes that Paul fluffed his solo piece, so to redeem himself, he told John that he wrote his own songs and played 'I Lost My Little Girl'  - John must have thought "Well if he can write songs, so can I" and the rest is history.

Sadly, the venue is now in dire straits. There is the possibiliity that the taxman's bailiff henchmen will close it down within the next few weeks due to an inherited tax bill from previous management. The dedicated staff at Clubmoor Conny Club are trying to raise £20,000 to save the club.

WE CANT LET ANOTHER BEATLE VENUE CLOSE DOWN!

Clubmoor Hall is still a big part of the local community.  Saving the club will not only help us to keep the Beatle Heritage in Liverpool alive, it will also keep one of  the traditional local social clubs going. Sadly a dying breed now. We lost the Aintree Inny. I personally would hate to lose Clubmoor Hall and would miss the fabulously warm welcome my groups receive at every visit. Back then, it was known at the Clubmoor Conservative Mens Club. Nowadays the political & gender bias has gone (thankfully!) , it is a social club for all the Liverpool Locals, and any guests who attend a club night here will receive the warmest welcome ever.
